REVIEW ´ Christmas at Rosie Hopkins Sweetshop Jenny Colgan ¶ 1 REVIEW FREE DOWNLOAD ☆ MIZUNOWAVERIDER.US ¶ Jenny Colgan Rosie Hopkins is looking forward to Christmas in the little Derbyshire village of Lipton buried under a thick blanket of snow Her sweetshop is festooned with striped candy canes large tempting piles o. This one started really well but went completely downhill once the writer decided to introduce Rosie s paranoia of a family And the worst thing is that she allowed her heroine to become totally inconsistent to herself and her principles She became a vulnerable meek creature manipulated by that thing she called mother It was beyond cringe worthy it was painfulI kept reading to see whether Rosie would have the guts to utter a proper punch line to her mother and put her in her place but it didn t happenview spoilerI began to doubt whether she was worthy of Stephen and most of all whether she had the will to grasp her life into her hands Plus the Henry Carr sub plot was highly implausible It seemed to exist just for the sake of added and utterly failing melodrama hide spoiler Diary of an SM Romance just for the sake of added and utterly failing melodrama hide spoiler

SUMMARY Christmas at Rosie Hopkins Sweetshop

REVIEW ´ Christmas at Rosie Hopkins Sweetshop Jenny Colgan ¶ 1 REVIEW FREE DOWNLOAD ☆ MIZUNOWAVERIDER.US ¶ Jenny Colgan Strikes at the heart of their little community all of Rosie's plans for the future seem to be blown apart Can she build a life in Lipton And is what's best for the sweetshop also what's best for Rosi. Christmas is mere weeks away and Rosie is excited with the promise of good things to come Her boyfriend Stephen is starting his new job as a teacher something he is looking forward to Her sweetshop is her delight and she loves greeting the village s children as well as the adults as they make their way inside her doors She even falls in love with a puppy bestowed on her and Stephen by his mother something she hadn t anticipated But a great tragedy occurs and suddenly Rosie and the rest of the village are consumed by sadness in its aftermath As they try to cope with recovering from it some on a close personal level and others in a wider scope Rosie s family comes to visit all the way from Australia much to her surprise Rosie s life is in a tailspin coping with everyday problems as well as unusual complications and blindsided by unexpected declarations from Stephen all while trying to be the peacemaker with her family and Stephen s mother This will be a Christmas to remember but probably not for the usual reasons The characters in this lovely story are uite likable even the prickly ones have a good side and if sadness calls at least it is softened by hope A couple of unlikely twists keep the tale fresh and entertaining and just as sweet as the confections in Rosie s sweetshop A well written and delightful Christmas tale

REVIEW ´ Christmas at Rosie Hopkins Sweetshop Jenny Colgan ¶ 1 REVIEW FREE DOWNLOAD ☆ MIZUNOWAVERIDER.US ¶ Jenny Colgan F Turkish Delight crinkling selection boxes and happy sticky children She's going to be spending it with her boyfriend Stephen and her family flying in from Australia She can't wait But when a tragedy. This is the fifth in my 12daysofChristmas read a thon Each day I will post a review of a Christmas Winter related book Hopefully this will give you some Xmas Inspo and give your holiday reading a boost I read the Rosie Hopkins Sweetshop of Dream about a year or so ago in the mood for some syrupy small town romantic storytelling In the original Jenny Colgan delivered However for me the seuel left much to be desiredI felt like Rosie s character got stuck here her obsession with marrying Stephen who she has been with for a mere year was dull in its repetitiveness I also was surprised by the characterization of Stephen prickly in a dry and humorous way in the original he seemed like a completely different man in this festive seuel Some of this change could be put to the positive changes in his personal life aka his relationship with Rosie however I occasionally missed his dark humourI would have preferred this seuel to focus on Lilian to be honest as I felt her story was far interesting and worthy of an entire book and Rosie s own However I can t fault Colgan for her Christmas vibe there was snow carol singing and lots of sweets Drama was also well written a particularly dark event occurs about a third of the way through giving Colgan the chance to stretch her writing muscles and portray something than just the same romantic comedy tropes which were exhausted within the first few chaptersThis is definitely a mulled wine kind of read if you drink a couple of glasses any flaws will be forgiven in favour of embracing the Christmas spirit
