review The Star of Kazan Read Ð E-book, or Kindle E-pub ↠ Eva Ibbotson Eva Ibbotson ↠ 9 Summary Annika has never had a birthday Instead she celebrates her Found Day the day a housemaid and a cook to three eccentric Viennese professors found her and took her home There Annika has made a happy life in the servants' uarters sur. This is a sweet story In general I like Eva Ibbotson s books but honestly this one really stood out to me I love how she catches you off guard with details you didn t think mattered The main character is kind and you can really sympathize to her and the overall plot is well developed It s not too hard of a read and the words flow easily I really think you should read this book it s one of my favorites Teach Your Kids to Think professors found her and took her home There Annika has made a happy life in the servants' uarters sur. This is a sweet story In general I like Eva Ibbotson s books but honestly this one really stood out to me I love how she catches you off guard with details you didn t think mattered The main character is kind and you can really sympathize to her and the overall To A Strange Somewhere Fled plot is well developed It s not too hard of a read and the words flow easily I really think you should read this book it s one of my favorites

I liked the parts of this story that took place in Vienna The author made it sound beautiful and charming Also the food sounded delicious The parts that took place in Germany were boring Not much happens there in this story The MC Annika was all right but I didn t connect with her I did enjoy getting to know the Professors though They became likeable as the story went along Unfortunately they weren t much involved with this story I didn t like Annika s family They were uite horrible Indifference is what I feel for the other characters Erzulie's Skirt performing days and her countless admirers especially the Russian count who gave her the legendary emerald the Star of Kazan And yet. I liked the When You Wish parts of this story that took Falconis Tractor place in Vienna The author made it sound beautiful and charming Also the food sounded delicious The Paisaje de Otoño parts that took Eksyneen muistikirja place in Germany were boring Not much happens there in this story The MC Annika was all right but I didn t connect with her I did enjoy getting to know the Professors though They became likeable as the story went along Unfortunately they weren t much involved with this story I didn t like Annika s family They were uite horrible Indifference is what I feel for the other characters

A splendid orphan story and a good one for reinforcing the idea that we can make our own families I loved the turn of the century Vienna setting and there were just the right amount of fairyfolk tale touches Excellent for 10 13 year old girls but also for adults who like old fashioned stories Jim Trelease of the Read Aloud Handbook recommended this book to me about 7 years ago I have chosen it for my 11 year old Book Club this year and I m anxious to see how the girls enjoy itJanuary 2012I ve just reread this book for the above mentioned Book Club and I think that I like and admire it even better the second timeI really noticed how clever Ibbotson is with the details and once again I m struck by how she plays with and subverts the fairy tale plot and themes Her loving tribute to Vienna inspired me to start reading Stefan Zweig s The World of Yesterday One of the children in my Book Club said of the beginning of the book that Annika was really happy but she didn t know it That comment has really stayed with me How often is that the case That we don t recognize our golden times when we are living them
